Off-Duty Cambridge Police Officer Seriously Injured After Struck By Car

An off-duty Cambridge police officer was seriously injured after getting hit by a car in the overnight hours of Friday, Sept. 2, the department said on Twitter.

The officer was hit after a vehicle drove through a red light at the intersection of Cambridge and Quincy Streets around 1:40 a.m., police said. 

The officer, who was on his way home after his shift, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The involved driver and her passenger were treated for their injuries onsite, police added. She was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light.
